Freight Coordinator job summary

Eagle Express Service is in need of a Freight Coordinator to work with our operations department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the movement of all shipments from specific destinations in accordance with our customers requests. Freight Coordinators will place great emphasis on providing exceptional communication and service to our customers, as well as continuously provide status updates such as arrival time and carrier whereabouts. This position will be responsible for engaging with carriers in aspects of rate negotiation, dispatching and tracking and tracing shipments until they arrive at their destination. This position will require working hand in hand with the sales and development team in order to communicate and provide solutions for all transportation-related issues. Freight Coordinator responsibilities/duties

  • Conduct dispatch operations of freight to our truckload, expedited and power only carriers

  • Handle service-related issues and problems that arise such as delays, cancellations, and detention

  • Execute timely and profitable bids on available shipments

  • Maintain profits through strategic negotiations

  • Handle shipment quoting

  • Cover available loads

  • Send dispatch documents to vendors

  • Prepare accurate bills of lading

  • Track and trace shipments

  • Input/update various files and information into database

  • Track and analyze mis-shipments to ensure they don’t occur again

  • Ensure quality of all services and processes within the department

Freight Coordinator qualifications/skills

  • High school diploma/GED required (Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics & Supply Chain, or a related field preferred)

  • 2+ years experience in an administrative/customer service role or a related field preferred

  • 1+ year working with an integrated cloud-based software system preferred

  • Comfortable with working in a fast-paced and performance driven environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Highly effective communication, both verbal and written

  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and customer-oriented

  • Strong work ethic with a self-starter mentality

  • Confident, enthusiastic, and a strong negotiator

  • Hours: Full-time

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday

  • Position Type: Operations

  • Wage/Salary: $16.00 - $18.00
